Personal
I am a mom, sister, auntie, and grandmother. I love being outdoors and I enjoy going on long backpacking trips, short hikes, or just sitting at the beach in the evenings. I also love live music and going to shows whenever I have time.
With me, you won’t always experience the same old talk therapy that you see on tv (unless that’s what you want, of course). I like to be a bit more creative (when appropriate) and utilize a client’s personal strengths and interests to help with healing. This can include things such as connection with culture, playing games, utilizing online videos, songs/lyrics, gaming, etc... I am also a huge fan of fidgets and strongly encourage them if needed! Please reach out to me when you are ready to get started

Our brand
Our logo encompasses all of the elements of Hiichido. We worked with Charlie Buffalo Design and Print, LLC to help bring our vision to life as we knew that this Nüümü Hupi (Paiute Woman) would design it in a good way. We asked her about her process in creating the logo, and what she wrote was so beautiful that we asked to include it here on our website for everyone to read. Please see below for the Artist Statement. We would also like to thank Teresa M. LeBeau of the California Pine-nuts page for giving us permission to use some of her beautiful pinecone pictures.

Key Elements: Hiichido (Dragonfly), Plant Medicines (Sage + Indian Tea), Basketry, Payahuunadu & Paya (Water)
The evening that Kiana and I had our first brainstorming session over Zoom I sat on the patio in my backyard. After the meeting I sat and talked with my partner about the serendipitous project that had landed in front of me. Just months before I had told him that I wanted to start studying the plant medicine of Payahüünadü when we moved home this summer. As we sat there talking and taking in the sunset, we watched dozens of hiichido (dragonflies) flying over head. That was when I knew that I wanted to include the purple hues of a summer sunset. On a late afternoon drive later that week along the Owens River east of town I saw Payahüünadü with paya flowing abundantly down the middle of a sunset sky the same color and that inspired the background of the logo.
A few days later I took the hills to gather plant medicine for this project, this felt very special to me. I gathered 4 different types of plant, two that Kiana had mentioned and a couple that I had liked, in the end I decided on the tudupi (Indian Tea) and Sagebrush because these are abundant medicines that grow in Payahüünadü. One being known to heal from the outside in and one known to heal from the inside out.
Tudupi (green ephedra/ephedra viridian) my grandmother called this Indian Tea. After lots of reading I found that this plant is super potent, it was used to treat a variety of ailments internally as well as externally. Like so many medicines tudupi can be a blessing but it can also be extremely hard on the heart. This is why it is best used as a poultice to treat external wounds.
Sawape (Sagebrush/Artemisia tridentata) I think we both agreed that the design definitely needed sage in some form. Our desert sagebrush is really amazing, given that it is most known for smudging and cooking, something that felt most healing was the constant aroma in the valley and the way it changes, especially during summer thunderstorms.
Kiana asked me to incorporate basketry into the design and I knew that I wanted to make that design unique to Kiana and her family. The pattern from the basket was inspired by the hat band and ribbon work on the sleeves of her graduation cap & gown. This felt like a significant element to the design as this is what is holding everything together as baskets are meant to do.
